BC comes back to win against Miami

BC has struggled on both ends of the floor in their last couple of games. After a tough loss to Maryland on Saturday, BC(11-8, 2-3) bounced back with a dramatic victory against Miami (15-4, 1-4). Trailing 45-35 at the half and trailing by as much as 17 points with only 16 minutes away, Joe Trapani along with Reggie Jackson sparked a BC run that would put BC in a good position to come out with a victory. Joe Trapani led all scorers with 31 points. Reggie Jackson came off of the BC bench to score 17 points for the Eagles. Miami has now lost three games in a row after entering the AP top 25 poll thanks to a 15-1 start.

Boston Bruins Season Review

After a tough start the Bruins have bounced back tough. The Bruins currently stand at 23-16 after a well earned OT win against the San Jose Sharks. The Bruins are currently on the inside looking out when it comes playoff time. In order to hold their playoff position, 5th place in the Eastern Conference, the Bruins are going to need to to come out with some tough road victories.

BC Men's Basketball in a Tough Position

This season has been one to forget for BC basketball. Losses to teams such as Rhode Island, Maine, and Harvard will all come back to hurt them when Selection Sunday comes around. After back to back ACC road game losses to Clemson and Duke, BC will face Maryland tomorrow at Conte Forum.

Celtics' Tough Week

This past week showed the Celtics that they are going to need to find out how to win against premeir teams in the Eastern Conference. Over the past week the Celtics have now lost twice to the Hawks. Now at 27-11 record, the Celtics need to find a way to back back to their winning ways. Last nights 96-83 loss against the 17-20 Bulls will show the Celtics that they need to step it up.

Boston College@Duke Men's Basketball Preview 1-13-10

This is a game that Boston College needs badly if they want any chance of making it to the March Madness tournament. For the past couple of years Boston College has had their struggles with mediocre teams. BC also tends to play tougher teams with more of a fight than they do against mediocre teams. The example that I use frequently to people that are wondering what this means is , BC faced off against #1 North Carolina on Jan. 4, 2009 and shocked the sports world with a 85-78 victory in Chapel Hill. This early year ACC upset win shifted momentum to BC's side for the time being. Next game BC faced off against a below average team in Harvard.

After a shocking upset against North Carolina, BC lost their next contest against Harvard. This example is perfect when it comes to showing how inconsistent BC has been over the last few years. Tonight BC will try to improve their ACC record to 2-1 after losing big to #21 Clemson. Tonight will be a game that will be either very helpful or hurtful to BC's tournament resume when March rolls around.

Atlanta Hawks have the Celtics number

The Atlanta Hawks came into Boston yesterday feeling good. After a well earned 102-96 last night over the 26 and 10 Celtics. Atlanta has now won three straight games against Boston and are now 24 and 13 for the year. Coming into this year the Celtics had won seven straight game against the Hawks. Last night Joe Johnson led the way for the Hawks with 36 points and three rebounds. Jamal Crawford who struggled earlier in the game finished strong with 17 points. Boston played without Kevin Garnett and Doc Rivers for two quarters. Glen Davis was called for a fragrant foul against Marvin Williams. Doc Rivers ,who disagreed with the call, was called for two technical fouls and was ejected from the game. This four point play gave the Hawks' momentum that eventually led them to their third straight win against the Celtics. If the Celtics cannot win against the premier teams in the east such as the Hawks, Cavaliers, and the Magic, they will be in trouble when playoff time comes.

Patriots season ends on a bad note

Over the course of the season, the Patriots have been lacking a key component that would make them one of the best teams in the NFL. Some people may argue that it was the defense and others may believe that the offense hurt the team as whole. Bill Belichick spent a lot of money, draft picks, and time making his defense stronger. During the middle of the season, the Patriots traded away Richard Seymour, one of their star defensive ends to the Oakland Raiders. Prior to the 2009-2010 season, Bill Belichick also signed Leigh Bodden, Shawn Springs, and Fred Taylor hoping to make his team stronger on both sides of the football. Yesterday, the Patriots season was ended by the 9-7 Baltimore Ravens. They were trailing 24-0 after the first quarter. This game started similar to a playoff game New England played against the Colts a couple years before. But in that game the Patriots came back to win in dramatic fashion. But in yesterdays game, the Patriots lacked in effort, skill, and must importantly intensity. Going into the game, New England knew that the Ravens were a strong defensive team and wanted to put pressure on Tom Brady. The Ravens' second year runningback, Ray Rice ran for 1,339 yards this year. The Patriots' first priority should have been to stop the Ravens' strong running game. One of the reasons why the Patriots lost this game is that they could not stop the run. In the first play from scrimmage, Ray Rice ran for a 83 yard touchdown that gave the Ravens an early lead that they would not give away. From that play on, the Ravens had momentum that would keep them moving towards the AFC divisional round. The Patriots second priority should have been to put pressure on the Ravens secondary. Many people believed that the Patriots would be able throw the ball all over the Ravens defense. Unfortunately, the Patriots were not able to do this. The Patriots offensive line was not able to protect Tom Brady, who threw three interceptions, and resulted in a fumble that would eventually give the Ravens a 14-0 lead only four minutes into the contest. These multiple problems dug the Patriots into a deep whole that they were not able to climb out of. For many Patriots fans, this loss will leave a bad taste in your mouth for weeks to come.
